WAG for Children History

In February 2010, a group of service minded parents interested in providing theatre arts opportunities for the children of Wylie met for the first time. Their purpose was to found a non-profit children’s theatre group. Those present were Christina Rigby, Melanie Davis, Melanie Barton, Emily Carter, Raquel and Tony Solis and Dan and Del Thatcher.

They were soon joined by other members of the Wylie community. It has been a kind of magic to watch as volunteers gathered and worked together to make this happen for the children of Wylie. Not a one of us is paid, but we have all given of our time because we believe strongly that our children deserve to have every learning opportunity possible. Our hope is that through participation in WAG our children will have more opportunities to use their big imaginations, learn, and have fun, all at the same time.

From the first e-mail to our first show, Fairy Tale Courtroom in June of 2010, WAG was met with all the enthusiasm a group of people could hope for. Community members have stepped up and helped make theatre for children a reality and we just can’t say thank you enough.

In December of 2010 WAG received non-profit certification from the federal government. We are officially recognized as a 501(c)3 status non-profit organization.

We have had wonderful first and second years. As we enter our third season, we can’t help but be thrilled over every success, all the while knowing that it takes many people and many hours to pull it all off, but especially eager, hard working children.
